This beautiful, comfortable, well equipped cottage is within walking distance of the railway station and city walls. We were a party of ladies taking advantage of a few days together to enjoy shopping, eating, drinking and each others company. 109 is in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk from Bishy Road with everything that you would need as regards independently owned eateries, deli’s and bakeries along with some very good take away restaurants.
We picked up the hop on and off bus tour at the railway station and used it to our advantage for the full 24 hours, how lucky were we that one of the bus stops was around the corner from 109? Julie met us on arrival with a very warm greeting ensuring that we had everything that we needed to make our stay a comfortable one. We will definitely be coming back.
Our communication with Julie was clear and fast. Beautifully decorated boutique accommodation. Lovely fabrics and furnishings used through out this apartment. Well equiped kitchen, all supplies and a delicious home made marmalade cake on arrival. The Christmas tree was a treat for four kiwis a long way from home.
The area was very convenient, with a lot of bakeries, butcher, fruit shops, cafes all within a couple of minutes. Sainsbury’s 5 minutes up the road and the centre of York about 30 minutes walk. Highly recommend.
Great stay in a very comfortable and attractive house. All you could want in the house, scrumptious cake on arrival, and first holiday home that I’ve been in where there have been pastry forks, fantastic. Julie was great host, very welcoming and helpful but not intrusive.
The house is well situated being an easy walk to the railway station and close to good shops and the town centre itself. The downside of that was the traffic noise, which if you are not used to hearing is quite loud. We had a great stay in York and would recommend this house.
Julie is an amazing host and had left us some basic supplies and a almond cake. The house has everything you could want from kitchen utensils, comfortable beds, top quality linens and furnishings.
There is a well stocked selection of DVD’s, books and games and free internet which was really appreciated. There is a small outside patio where you could eat on warmer days and it’s a short walk into town or to the railway station. I wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again and all her guest book visitors say the same.
As soon as we walked in we could tell we would love it here. It’s just brilliant. This house represents what York is all about . Mixture of modern and history. It’s located very close to the centre and within reach of some shops.
If we come to York again which I am pretty sure we will then we will more than likely stay here again. Honestly couldn’t fault it. The only slight thing was the noise from the road. But that’s not really anything major, its still a wonderful place that honestly if you get the chance to book this place, please do!
Exactly what we needed and a little bit more. We stayed at 109 for a long weekend hoping for somewhere that 4 old friends could relax and have fun without children or husbands to bother us. The house is beautifully decorated and feels welcoming as soon as you step through the door so we instantly felt at home.
On a practical note, the kitchen is very well equipped for cooking and the living space is much bigger than it appears in the photos. The immediate area is worth exploring, the local deli has a great selection of cheeses and antipasti treats, we ate some delicious meals at the local Sicilian and Thai restaurants and there is a good range of local pubs too.
The city centre is a short stroll from the house and refreshingly, the station is an easy 10 min walk away too so no need to bother with taxis or transport. Would absolutely recommend staying here if you are looking for a home away from home.
Julie is an excellent host too, very friendly, accommodating and thoughtful; we arrived to find freshly baked cake on the table and a bottle of fizz in the fridge, who could argue with that?! Thank you Julie for providing a beautiful backdrop to our much needed weekend away.
We booked a week stay at 109 Nunnery Lane leading up to our wedding. We were met by Julie who thoroughly explained everything about the property and left us freshly baked florentines as a welcome gift which was amazing.
The property is immaculately furnished and Julie has put a lot of time and effort into making the space a home away from home – whether you are there for a weekend or a month you will definitely have everything that you need. It is only a 5-10 minute walk into York city walls and around the corner from excellent cafes and shops on Bishopsthorpe road – a perfect location. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. We had a fantastic stay. Thank you.
